QUICK DEV TIP #47 UE4 / UE5 - QUICK OPEN LEVEL ASSET

Here is a tip that someone told me about in the Unreal Engine Developers Comunity Facebook group, which I appreciate as now I use it all the time now!

Did you know you can quickly open an asset selected in your level using keyboard shortcuts?

If you would prefer to watch the video version, check it out here

It’s quick and super easy to do. First up select something in your level. Then hold Ctrl and press E. It’s as easy as that. You can use this on any asset that you have made and brought into engine that can exist in a level. For example blueprints, static meshes, animations, skeletal meshes.

This works exactly the same way in the Early Access version of Unreal Engine 5.

It’s not that much more work to click to find in the editor but I like this because if it’s part of your everyday workflow then it can help you smoothly transition around in fewer clicks and fewer clicks over time can save you a lot of time.
